Christmas Market 2009

The 2009 Christmas Market took place on Saturday 5 December. It was our biggest ever market with some 30 plus stalls ranging from pancakes with cinnamon and sugar to flower arranging, Christmas Cards to 'guess the name of the bear'. There was a bouncy castle, santa, spiced drinks, cakes, biscuits and plenty of carol singing, even a live guitar act! It started at 3pm and looked like we were going to escape the rain, but unfortunately this was not to be so. Soon the rain came down, but it didn't dampen the spirits and all the stalls we're sheltered. Some stall holders took home a good income for the night! We hope that this night is an encouragement to the people of E14 that they will be driven entrepeneurs and come to find Jesus born in community! Happy Christmas everyone.

Turkish Breakfast

Emine provided us with a wonderful Turkish breakfast on Wednesday 18 November with All different sorts of Turkish food - cheeses, breads, spicy omelettes, teas and coffees and sweets. It was a great adventure into another culture experienced by our diverse group of women!

Summer 2009

The summer programme of 2009 brought fun to people of all ages on the Isle of Dogs. The toddlers enjoyed getting messy during playgroup with plenty of play dough, water, sand and painting; whilst older children enjoyed activities including crafts, chill out cafe or football, or big team games for all the children together to enjoy. Each Wednesday a coach packed with families headed down to the coast for trips to various seaside resorts - special days for all and a great chance to make friends with others, and lots of sun, sea and sand - these trips were fantastic! The summer programme came to a climax with the much awaited ‘Island’s Got Talent’ show held in St John’s Park. Dance routines, guitar and piano playing and stunts were displayed by the children to a crowd of over 150 spectators. All the entrants put in so much effort, the first prize going to Kayla, who danced with so much rhythm. All those involved in the running of the programme worked really hard saying it was definitely worth the effort, it is brilliant to be a part of such a positive time on the island.
